13 Years Ago Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone

 iPhone celebrates its thirteenth anniversary of the day when Steve Jobs introduced the original iPhone at Macworld in San Francisco.

The iPhone is a touchscreen-based smartphone designed by Apple Inc. iPhone uses Apple’s iOS mobile operating system. Do you know, The first-generation iPhone was announced by Apple co-founder Steve Jobs on January 9, 2007?

Since then Apple has annually released new iPhone models and iOS updates.

 Jobs pick on the device just as it were three isolated products: a widescreen iPod with touch controls, a revolutionary mobile phone, and an improved internet communications device.

Apple makes it to trading the iPhone six months later, and nearly a decade later, the company has now sold well over 1 billion of them around the world. Its sales hiking on annual basis until 2016, when the smartphone experienced its first-ever downturn sales year for Apple. Albeit, the iPhone keeps Apple’s most fruitful product ever, accounting for 60% of the company’s overall earning last quarter.

Out of then, Apple has improved the iPhone every year by adding more new features:

  • 2008: App Store and 3G network support
  • 2009: Video recording and Personal Hotspot
  • 2010: Retina display
  • 2011: Siri and iCloud
  • 2012: Taller 4-inch screen, Lightning connector, and LTE
  • 2013: The touch ID
  • 2014: Larger 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screens
  • 2015: 3D Touch, Live Photo and 4K video recording
  • 2016: Waterproofing and dual-lens camera on iPhone 7 Plus
  • 2017:  The addition of inductive charging, a faster processor, and improved cameras and displays in iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.
  • 2018: The launch iPhone Xr which has a 6.1-inch Liquid Retina LED-backlit LCD IPS panel display, which Apple claims is the “most advanced LCD in the industry.
  • 2019: The introduction of the iPhone 11, The prominent changes compared with the iPhone XR are the Apple A13 Bionic chip, and an ultra-wide dual-camera system.  The iPhone 11 Pro comes with an 18 W Lightning to USB-C fast charger. 
  • 2020: The new and current addition to this list is the iPhone 12. The major upgrades over the iPhone 11 include the addition of a Super Retina XDR OLED as opposed to the Liquid Retina LED-backlit LCD IPS Panel on the iPhone 11 and XR, 5G support, the introduction of MagSafe, Apple A14 Bionic system on a chip (SoC), high-dynamic-range video Dolby Vision 4K up to 30 fps and a new Mini model.
